inemax (which since 2008 has also gone by the short name Max on-air) is a collection of premium television networks that broadcasts feature films, softcore erotica, documentaries and special behind-the-scenes features. Cinemax is operated by Home Box Office, Inc., a subsidiary of Time Warner. The channel's name is a portmanteau of "cinema" and "maximum".
